Steel-Line Garage Doors Newcastle partnered with Safe n Sound Self Storage Pty Ltd to support the expansion of their Glendale, NSW self-storage facility. As one of the region’s leading self-storage providers, operating 15 locations across the Central Coast, Newcastle and Port Macquarie, Safe n Sound required a reliable, high-volume door solution that could be delivered within a live construction environment while meeting strict project timelines.
The project involved the manufacture and supply of 190 manual lift roller doors in a Riviera colour finish across multiple roller door sizes. Through careful planning, close collaboration and staged deliveries, Steel-Line successfully supported the facility’s expansion while maintaining production capacity and service levels for its broader customer base.

Challenges & Solutions
Managing High-Volume Production
Supplying 190 roller doors required extensive planning to ensure the project could be completed without impacting standard weekly customer allocations. Steel-Line’s Newcastle branch worked closely with the Darra manufacturing team over several months to develop a production strategy that balanced project requirements with ongoing operational commitments.
Production Flexibility
An alternative production method was initially explored to minimise the impact on standard manufacturing schedules. However, due to the unavailability of Riviera-coloured spool material within the alternative production stream, all doors were successfully manufactured through the manual production line. To support the project, the production quantities were excluded from standard allocation limits, ensuring continuity of supply for existing customers.
Coordinating a Live Construction Site
Deliveries needed to be carefully planned around ongoing construction activities, site access restrictions and multiple trades working simultaneously. Steel-Line maintained regular communication with the client to coordinate forklift availability, delivery timing, installation sequencing and third-party transport logistics, while conducting multiple site visits and re-measuring openings to ensure installation accuracy.
Staged Delivery & Installation
Weather conditions, construction progress and equipment availability required deliveries to be strategically staged across three separate delivery dates over a three-week period. This approach allowed installation to commence immediately while remaining doors were stored safely onsite for progressive installation as each stage of the project became ready.
Outcomes
The Safe n Sound Self Storage Glendale expansion was completed successfully and on schedule, demonstrating Steel-Line Garage Doors’ capability to manage large-scale commercial supply projects with precision and flexibility.
Through close collaboration between the production, sales, logistics and installation teams, Steel-Line supplied and supported the installation of 190 manual lift roller doors, meeting the project’s construction schedule while maintaining uninterrupted service for its broader customer base. The carefully planned staged delivery strategy ensured each shipment aligned with installation sequencing, allowing work to progress efficiently within the active construction environment.
Ongoing communication with Safe n Sound Self Storage throughout the project enabled site access, transport logistics and installation priorities to be managed seamlessly despite changing construction conditions. The successful delivery of the Glendale expansion highlights Steel-Line’s ability to provide scalable commercial door solutions backed by strong project management, manufacturing expertise and a commitment to customer service.
